Learning doesn’t just happen in a lecture-style setting with a speaker addressing an audience. Unconferences provide an alternative to traditional conference programs, allowing you to collaborate and learn from one another in informal, flexible, and inspiring ways.

At the 2017 National Principals Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in these dynamic ways of learning and sharing ideas. These unconference sessions will be held on Sunday, July 9, and Monday, July 10.

Inspiring Interactions

Plug in with education leaders at #NPC17’s Connectathon! With guidance from digital experts, harness the power of social media to get the most out of your conference experience. Participants can engage in sessions like:

  • #principalsinaction
  • Building Empathy Through Design Thinking
  • Social Media 3.0: Developing a Connected Mindset through Intentional Practice

The Connectathon sessions will be held from 7:30–8:45 a.m on Sunday and Monday.

Informal Learning

Attendees should take advantage of the Edcamps/Hackathons available during the conference. These are organic, spontaneous sessions that are developed based on attendees’ interests and needs. Sessions that might be of interest include:

  • Transforming School Culture to Maximize Learning
  • Redesigning Faculty Meetings
  • Apps, Apps, Apps Everywhere

Forget the sales pitches—these participant-driven sessions aim to empower you to present and discuss the challenges of your profession.

Edcamps/Hackathons will be held from 2:00–3:30 p.m on Sunday and Monday.

Flexible Structure

The National Principals Conference includes opportunities to meet with your colleagues at designated off-site locations to further discuss conference strand-related questions and observations. These sessions are part of the ContinueOns.

Whether you’re new to unconferences and want to dip your toe into the water, or are a veteran unconferencer looking to enhance your conference experience, you’ll find interactions that will help you with your school improvement and leadership efforts.

If these sound like opportunities you’ll value, why not register for the National Principals Conference? Don’t delay—the conference opens July 9!
