National Principals Month (NPM) happens every October and is a month-long celebration of school leaders and what they do to help students succeed. We ask that you and your students join the celebration by participating in activities such as planning a celebration for your school leader, sending them e-cards, and posting about them on social media using #ThankaPrincipal.

One of our favorite NPM student activities is our video contest. For this contest, we invite students to make one- to two-minute videos telling us why they love their principal and what s/he means to them, their school, and their community.

Don’t be afraid to let your students get creative with it!

For inspiration or to see what past students have done, you can click here to watch last year’s contest entries.

One winner will be chosen from each level—elementary, middle level, and high school—and will win a $200 Best Buy gift card for their school, as well as bragging rights that their principal is the best around. We will also be sharing the winners’ videos on YouTube. Just think: your school could have the viral video of the year!

You can view the official contest rules here and videos can be submitted online here.

As your students are creating videos, don’t forget to share them on social media with #ThankaPrincipal. The contest deadline is 11:59 p.m., September 29, 2017, so get to filming!
