Being a principal requires dedication, passion, and a great deal of moxie. To celebrate all that principals across the country do for their students, faculty, and school, NASSP and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) have declared October National Principals Month.
Throughout the month, we ask everyone to get involved in honoring principals—from students to parents to elected officials.
In fact, students play a special role in National Principals Month. Each year, we ask students to publicly and creatively celebrate their principal by entering the video contest. In a one- to two-minute video, students can pull out all the stops to sing the praises of their principal.
Take a look at the 2014 submissions to see just how imaginative students got! This year’s deadline for video submissions is October 31, 2015 and the winning schools will receive a $200 Best Buy gift card (and, of course, eternal YouTube glory). Visit www.principalsmonth.org/contest for contest details.
Start gearing up for October now by visiting the National Principals Month website and finding out how you can celebrate at your school. You can also get a head start by using the #ThankAPrincipal hashtag on social media.
