October is National Principals Month (NPM), a celebration of school leaders and the work that they do all year to ensure school and student success. To show their appreciation, students are invited to send their principals e-cards, plan celebrations for them, and post about them on social media using #ThankAPrincipal.

Students can also tell us about the impact their principal has on their school by entering our video contest. As part of this contest, students are tasked with creating one-minute videos that show how much their principal means to them, their school, and their community.

We welcome creativity and if you’re looking for inspiration, check out past contest entries at www.principalsmonth.org.

One winner will be chosen from each level—elementary, middle level, and high school—and will win a $200 gift card for their school. Winners will be announced on the NPM website. You can view the official contest rules here and videos can be submitted online here. Note that upon submission, your students’ video must be made public.

As your students create their videos or do anything else in celebration of NPM, don’t forget to share about these activities on social media with #ThankAPrincipal. And remember, the contest deadline is 11:59 p.m. (ET), October 5—get filming!
