After wrapping up an eventful first week of National Principals Month (NPM), we continue by highlighting the great work of our nation’s school leaders. This includes a recording of our official Capitol Hill Event that was held on October 3. This week, we have a great webinar highlighting the importance of building and maintaining principal pipelines:

October 10, 3:30–4:00 p.m. (ET): What Does It Take to Build and Maintain a Principal Pipeline Within a Large Urban District?

As a Wallace Foundation “Principal Pipeline” Initiative school district, Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland will share their approach to building a principal pipeline using four key levers:

  • Developing leadership standards
  • Creating pre-service preparation programs
  • Selective hiring process and “best fit” placement
  • Providing on-the-job evaluation and support

Prince George’s County will not only speak to what it takes to build the pipeline but, more importantly, what it takes to operate, sustain, and scale the work of leadership development in a large urban district. Register here

Continue to stay tuned to the National Principals Month calendar as we continue to add events. Don’t forget that you can also participate in other ways, such as e-cards, National Principal Shadowing Week, and on social media using #ThankAPrincipal. Lastly, stay tuned to future School of Thought blog posts for more weekly updates on upcoming NPM events.
